We have two more new disc reviews for you to enjoy today...

Tim has taken a good look at Stanley Tong’s Super Cop (1992, aka Police Story 3) in 4K Ultra HD, which is finally available from 88 Films. As many of you will already know, the film stars Jackie Chan and Michelle Yeoh.

And Stephen has turned in his thoughts on The Spierig Brothers’ Undead (2003) on Blu-ray from Umbrella Entertainment and Vinegar Syndrome.

We’ve also got a bunch of new title announcements...

First, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has now officially set Elia Kazan’s East of Eden (1955) and Howard Hawks’ Rio Bravo (1959) for release on 4K Ultra HD and 4K Digital on 7/18, as expected. Per the studio’s press release, both titles have been restored in partnership with Martin Scorsese’s The Film Foundation. Each will feature HDR10 high dynamic range and DTS-HD Master Audio. East of Eden will include the previous audio commentary by film historian Richard Schickel. Rio Bravo will include the previous commentary with filmmaker John Carpenter and Schickel. You can see the cover art at left and also below. Note that both titles are now available for pre-order on Amazon (SRP $33.99 each) by clicking on the cover art below. [Read on here...]

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has also announced Chris McKay’s Renfield (2023) for release on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital on 6/6. No physical 4K Ultra HD release is planned at this time. Extras will include feature commentary (with producer Samantha Nisenboim, screenwriter Ryan Ridley, and members of the crew), deleted and extended scenes, alternate takes, and 6 featurettes (including Dracula UnCaged, Monsters & Men: Behind the Scenes of Renfield, Stages of Rejuvenation, Flesh & Blood, Fighting Dirty, and The Making of a Deleted Scene: Renfield’s Dance!). Audio on the Blu-ray will be 7.1 DTS-HD MA. You can see the cover artwork below.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has also officially announced the 6/13 Blu-ray and DVD release of Julius Avery’s The Pope’s Exorcist (2023), starring Russell Crowe. The Digital release drops today on 5/30. Extras on all SKUs will include two featurettes (Introducing Father Amorth and What Possessed You?).

Lionsgate has set Kelly Fremon Craig’s Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret for release on Blu-ray and DVD release on 7/11, with the Digital due on 6/6. Extras will include deleted scenes, 4 featurettes, a roundtable discussion, and the theatrical trailer. The film stars Rachel McAdams and Kathy Bates.

And our friends at Shout! and Scream Factory have announced a new slate of Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD titles for release in August, including Christopher Ray’s Assault on Hill 400 (2023) (Blu-ray and DVD) and Clive Barker’s Nightbreed (1990) (4K Ultra HD) on 8/1, Steven Brill’s Little Nicky (2000) (Blu-ray) on 8/8, the animated Mavka: The Forest Song (2023) (DVD) and the Shaw Brothers Classics: Volume 2 (Blu-ray) on 8/15—the box set includes Lady of Steel (1970), Brothers Five (1970), The Crimson Charm (1971), The Shadow Whip (1971), The Delightful Forest (1972), The Devil’s Mirror (1972), Man of Iron (1972), The Water Margin (1972), The Bride from Hell (1972), Heroes Two (1974), The Flying Guillotine (1975), and The Dragon Missile (1976)—and rounding out the slate are Iain Softley’s Hackers (1995) (4K Ultra HD) and Michael Crichton’s Coma (1978) (Blu-ray) on 8/22.

Finally today, on the other side of the Pond, The Film Vault and Vice Press have announced their Volume 2 slate of 4K Ultra HD Limited Edition and all-region box sets from Universal Studios and Warner Bros. for release in the UK in September and October. Look for Frank Darabont’s The Shawshank Redemption (1994) and Steven Spielberg’s Jaws (1975) on 9/4, followed by Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) and Ron Howard’s Apollo 13 (1995) on 10/2. Each will include custom cover artwork by Matt Ferguson and Florey from Vice Press, as well as swag items. (And if you order directly from Vice Press, you get 24” x 36” posters with each title as well.)

We’ll leave you with a look at the cover artwork for several of the titles mentioned above, with Amazon or Amazon UK pre-order links if available...
