Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has also announced Chris McKay’s Renfield (2023) for release on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital on 6/6. No physical 4K Ultra HD release is planned at this time. Extras will include feature commentary (with producer Samantha Nisenboim, screenwriter Ryan Ridley, and members of the crew), deleted and extended scenes, alternate takes, and 6 featurettes (including Dracula UnCaged, Monsters & Men: Behind the Scenes of Renfield, Stages of Rejuvenation, Flesh & Blood, Fighting Dirty, and The Making of a Deleted Scene: Renfield’s Dance!). Audio on the Blu-ray will be 7.1 DTS-HD MA. You can see the cover artwork below.
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has also officially announced the 6/13 Blu-ray and DVD release of Julius Avery’s The Pope’s Exorcist (2023), starring Russell Crowe. The Digital release drops today on 5/30. Extras on all SKUs will include two featurettes (Introducing Father Amorth and What Possessed You?).
Lionsgate has set Kelly Fremon Craig’s Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret for release on Blu-ray and DVD release on 7/11, with the Digital due on 6/6. Extras will include deleted scenes, 4 featurettes, a roundtable discussion, and the theatrical trailer. The film stars Rachel McAdams and Kathy Bates.
And our friends at Shout! and Scream Factory have announced a new slate of Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD titles for release in August, including Christopher Ray’s Assault on Hill 400 (2023) (Blu-ray and DVD) and Clive Barker’s Nightbreed (1990) (4K Ultra HD) on 8/1, Steven Brill’s Little Nicky (2000) (Blu-ray) on 8/8, the animated Mavka: The Forest Song (2023) (DVD) and the Shaw Brothers Classics: Volume 2 (Blu-ray) on 8/15—the box set includes Lady of Steel (1970), Brothers Five (1970), The Crimson Charm (1971), The Shadow Whip (1971), The Delightful Forest (1972), The Devil’s Mirror (1972), Man of Iron (1972), The Water Margin (1972), The Bride from Hell (1972), Heroes Two (1974), The Flying Guillotine (1975), and The Dragon Missile (1976)—and rounding out the slate are Iain Softley’s Hackers (1995) (4K Ultra HD) and Michael Crichton’s Coma (1978) (Blu-ray) on 8/22.
Finally today, on the other side of the Pond, The Film Vault and Vice Press have announced their Volume 2 slate of 4K Ultra HD Limited Edition and all-region box sets from Universal Studios and Warner Bros. for release in the UK in September and October. Look for Frank Darabont’s The Shawshank Redemption (1994) and Steven Spielberg’s Jaws (1975) on 9/4, followed by Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) and Ron Howard’s Apollo 13 (1995) on 10/2. Each will include custom cover artwork by Matt Ferguson and Florey from Vice Press, as well as swag items. (And if you order directly from Vice Press, you get 24” x 36” posters with each title as well.)
