Clint Eastwood’s True Crime coming to BD, plus Lady in the Van, Ip Man 3, new Kino classics & more

I’m working on a few more of those Ultra HD reviews for posting over the next couple days, so today’s update is going to be brief. But we do have a few interesting items for you today...

First up, our own Tim Salmons has just kicked off his latest installments of his Dailies: Pick-Ups column. This week, Tim’s going to catch up with a few great Blu-ray titles from our friends at Arrow Video, the first of which is Buddy Cooper’s The Mutilator (1985). Do give it a look.  [Read on here…]

In terms of new announcement news today, Warner Home Video has set Clint Eastwood’s True Crime and City Heat for Blu-ray release on 5/3.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has set director Nicholas Hytner’s The Lady in the Van, starring Maggie Smith, for Blu-ray, DVD, and digital HD release on 4/19. Extras will include director’s commentary, deleted scenes, and 3 featurettes (Playing The Lady: Maggie Smith as Miss Shepherd, The Making of The Lady in the Van, and The Visual Effects).

Well Go USA Entertainment has just officially announced the 4/59 Blu-ray and DVD release of Ip Man 3 (with the digital HD release due on 4/5). This will be the final installment of the Ip Man trilogy.

Kino Lorber has just revealed the 6/14 Blu-ray release of Andrew V. McLaglen’s Something Big (1971), followed by the 6/21 Blu-ray and DVD release of Edmond O’Brien and Howard W. Koch’s Shield for Murder (1954) and Andre de Toth’s Hidden Fear (1957).

Anchor Bay has Tumbledown coming to Blu-ray and DVD on 4/5, starring Jason Sudeikis and Rebecca Hall.

RLJ Entertainment has Curveball coming to DVD and digital on 4/5.

And in other news, our friends at Home Media Magazine have just opened the online voting for the 2016 Home Media Magazine Awards for the best Blu-ray and DVD titles of 2016. Once again this year, I’m honored to serve as one of the judges. You can get your votes in here.
