All right, there’s not a lot of release news today, so I thought we’d catch up on some Blu-ray reviews...

First up today, we have a new review from our own Tim Salmons of Universal and Laika’s excellent The Boxtrolls on Blu-ray. It’s a great little film, and we always love seeing stop-motion animation get its due in this time when CG seems to dominate for such titles.  [Read on here…]

Meanwhile, here’s something awesome: The surviving cast of the classic 1960s Lost in Space TV series have reunited to celebrate the show’s 50th anniversary. They were interviewed on local TV in Los Angeles yesterday (you can watch the interview here). According to actor Bill Mumy (via his Facebook page – see his post here) the complete series is set for BD release is September from Fox. This following word over the last several months that all the original episodes have been remastered in HD from the original negatives. We would expect official word in the weeks and months ahead. If you live in L.A., the cast will be signing autographs at The Hollywood Show this coming weekend (at the Westin Los Angeles Airport Hotel – they’ll also be doing a panel discussion at the show on Sunday – see link here for details).  [Read on here…]

We’re starting off today’s post with four Blu-ray reviews, including a pair of new ones and a pair of older ones updated to the new site’s database. The new reviews include Tim Salmons’ look at Fernando Di Leo’s 1971 Euro-horror pic Slaughter Hotel from Raro and also his thoughts on a sleazy actioner 1982 from Vinegar Syndrome – Raw Force. And the retro reviews including my own look at Paramount’s Star Trek: Original Motion Picture Collection Blu-ray box set and also Jeff Kleist’s take on Paramount’s Star Trek: The Next Generation Movie Collection Blu-ray box as well.

Also here at the site today, our own Russell Hammond has updated the Release Dates & Artwork section with all the latest Blu-ray and DVD cover artwork and Amazon.com pre-order links. As always, a portion of anything at all that you order from Amazon in the same session after clicking through our links goes to help support our work here at The Bits and we really appreciate it.  [Read on here…]
