We’re kicking off the day here at The Bits with a pair of new Blu-ray reviews from yours truly.

First up is a look at FUNimation’s brand new Cowboy Bebop: The Complete Series release – the standard edition on Blu-ray. If you’re a fan of the series, picking this one up is a no-brainer. Not only is it one of the best anime of all time, FUNimation’s new release features best-available A/V quality, nearly all the extras from the previous DVD editions, and some new bonus content too.

The second review is something pretty cool: A few of you may recall that, in my review of Warner’s Batman: The Complete Series – Limited Edition, I mentioned a great documentary on actor Adam West that’s as good or better than anything included in Warner’s BD box set. I’m happy to say that this documentary – James E. Tooley’s Starring Adam West – is finally available for purchase on its own on both Blu-ray and DVD (here at this website) and I’ve had the chance to review it here. If you’re a fan of classic TV Batman, it’s well worth a look.  [Read on here…]

More BD reviews are on the way for tomorrow, by the way, so be sure to check back. Next up on deck are Warner’s Stanley Kubrick: The Masterpiece Collection and CBS’s Star Trek: The Next Generation – Season 7.

All right, we’ve got an important bit of Batman-related information for you to this afternoon: Warner Bros. Customer Service is finally starting to e-mail people back about the Batman: The Complete Television Series disc replacement program. But if you haven’t gotten an e-mail yet, no worries – we’re here to help you skip a step. The e-mail will direct you to visit this web page: www.shipment-service.com/batman66.  When you go there, it will ask you to submit your name, e-mail address, phone number, and mailing address, to select your format, and to input your UPC or EAN code (from the back of your packaging – If you don’t have a UPC, no worries. There are additional instructions for you). If you have the Limited Edition set, it will also ask for your edition number (on the bottom of the box). Then you hit submit and you’ll get a confirmation e-mail back a short time later at the address you provided. That’s all you need to do. Replacement discs are currently being manufactured (Discs 1 & 5 on the BD set, Discs 1 & 8 on the DVD set). They’re currently expected to begin shipping in late January. Note that if you live outside the U.S. and Canada, you still need to do this process. Warner Bros. Customer Service will share your information with their Warner counterparts in your country or region to help arrange your exchange.

On the same note, WHV today just sent us this message for posting:

“The fulfillment process for the Warner Bros. Home Entertainment (WBHE) replacement discs and digital repairs on Batman: The Complete Television Series is in its initial stages, the first being the actual fixes and production of the discs. Once this initial phase is completed, discs will be distributed.

To ensure you will receive replacement discs, consumers are directed to www.shipment-service.com/batman66 or to call 800-891-1311 to register and initiate the process. If you have already sent an email to Customer Service, we have received your email and you will be contacted to complete the registration process by early 2015.

The worldwide demand for Batman: The Complete Television Series is extremely high, and this process is being expedited as quickly as possible. However, there are necessary steps to be taken, and a large number of fans to accommodate. Please be patient.”

So there you go.
