We’ve got just a quick one update for you today, as the industry is shutting down for the rest of the week for the Thanksgiving holiday...

The big news today is that Ridley Scott’s The Martian now has a street date. 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has set the Blu-ray 3D Combo, Blu-ray Combo, and DVD release for 1/12. You can click on the cover artwork below to pre-order. [Read on here…]

Lionsgate has set Man Up for Blu-ray and DVD release on 2/2, along with Take a Chance on Love on DVD only that same day.

VCI Entertainment has set Bob Clark’s Children Shouldn’t Play With Dead Things for Blu-ray release on 2/23.

And Cinedigm will release the animated anthology Extraordinary Tales on Blu-ray on 2/2.

Now then, if you’re a Batman fan, Amazon.com has a trio of great Blu-ray Deals for you today: You can get Batman: The Complete Television Series on Blu-ray for just $99.99 (63% off the regular price – click here). Or you can get The Dark Knight Trilogy: Ultimate Collector’s Edition on Blu-ray plus Batman Arkham Knight for the PlayStation 4 for just $61.98 (59% off – click here). Or you can get that same bundle with the game for the XBox One for the same price ($61.98 – 59% off – click here for that). Not bad.

Batman: The Complete TV Series (Blu-ray Disc)

Meanwhile, Amazon is also offering 30% off any book (up to a $10 discount) over the Thanksgiving weekend – click this link for the details. That include coffee table books, art books – pretty much anything but Kindle and audio books. So if there’s a great expensive Taschen or movie art book (such as the upcoming The 2001 File: Harry Lange and the Design of the Landmark Science Fiction Film or maybe The Art of The Force Awakens) be sure to take advantage. Again, the details are all at this link. The offer is valid from now until 11/30.

Here’s the cover art for both BD versions of The Martian, plus Children Shouldn’t Play With Dead Things...

Finally today, Marvel and Disney have revealed the custom Matt Ferguson cover artwork you’ll find for each of the films in their upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase Two Blu-ray box set, due in 12/8 (you can pre-order it here on Amazon or by clicking on any of the images below). Here they are...

The Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase Two (Blu-ray Disc)

Iron Man 3

Thor: The Dark World

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Guardians of the Galaxy

Avengers: Age of Ultron

Ant-Man

Bonus Disc

Now then, I’ll be back each day to point out any great Black Friday Deals and offer any interesting breaking Blu-ray and DVD news if it happens. Meanwhile, go see Creed. If you’re a Rocky fan, you will NOT be disappointed. It’s one of my favorite films of the year.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
