Also today, Synapse Films has announced Charles Martin Smith’s Trick or Treat (1986) for release in a 4K UHD + Blu-ray + CD Limited Edition. There will be three variants available, with a total of 6,666 units available. And pre-orders are already crashing their website. But Diabolik has them available here.
The release will include Dolby Vision HDR, 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio, and hours of bonus content including multiple audio commentaries and the Rock & Shock: The Making of “Trick or Treat” feature-length retrospective documentary. Here’s a look at the cover art...
Meanwhile, our friends at Kino Lorber Studio Classics have announced a few new Blu-ray titles for release in December, including Philippe Mora’s The Beast Within (1982) and Martha Coolidge’s Rambling Rose (1991) on 12/10, and Randy Zisk’s Mr. Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie (2023), The Killer is Loose (1956), and The Claim (2000) on 12/17.
And finally today, The Hollywood Reporter has posted a great interview with 20th Century Studios president Steve Asbell, who teases some of the great genre projects he’s working to move forward. Among them are a secret Predator movie, another Alien sequel, the possibility of Speed 3, and even a prequel to Master and Commander—yes, please! Steve’s a great guy and very wise. The interview is well worth your time.
