In announcement news today, Fox has officially set their Big: 25th Anniversary Edition for Blu-ray release on 12/20.  It will include an extended cut (104 minutes), the Big Brainstorming audio documentary featuring Gary Ross and Anne Spielberg, deleted scenes (some with intros by director Penny Marshall) and  5 featurettes (Big Beginnings, Chemistry of a Classic, The Work of Play, Hollywood Backstories: Big and Carnival Party Newswrap).

Sony has set The Smurfs 2 for Blu-ray 3D Combo, Blu-ray Combo, DVD and Digital on 12/3.  The Blu-ray versions will include deleted scenes, 5 featurettes (Daddy’s Little Girl: The Journey of Smurfette, Animating Azreal, The Puurrfect Companion: Azreal’s Tail, Evolution of the Naughties and The Naughties! The Tale of Hackus and Vexy) and The Legend of Smurfy Hollow mini-movie.

Universal has announced that the CG-animated Despicable Me 2 will arrive in stores on Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and DVD on 12/10. Additional details will follow in the next few days.

Entertainment One has set Syfy’s Primeval New World: The Complete Series for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 10/22 (SRP $39.98 and $29.98).

We’ve learned what will be included on the new 15th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray and DVD re-issues of Farscape: The Complete Series from New Video/Cinedigm.  All the extras from the last release will be included, along with a new graphic novel called Tale of Sand, produced by Archaia Entertainment.

And finally, it looks like director Michael Apted has filmed another entry in his Up documentary series, in which he’s followed  a group of British schoolchildren every seven years throughout their lives starting at the age of 7.  56 Up premieres on PBS on 10/14.  The documentary was released on DVD on 7/2.

Here’s a look at the Blu-ray cover artwork for Fox’s Big and Sony’s The Smurfs 2, as well as DVD art for First Run’s The Up Series (which includes 56 Up – now available)…
