by

All right, we’ve got some news to report today. Disc release announcements and more...

First up, the Warner Archive Collection has announced their October slate, which is set to include Hanna-Barbera’s Space Ghost & Dino Boy: The Complete Series (1966-1967) on Blu-ray on 10/13, HBO’s The Plot Against America (2020) on DVD on 10/20, DC’s Black Lightning: The Complete Second Season (2018-2019) and Black Lightning: The Complete Third Season (2019-2020) on Blu-ray on 10/27, and Head of the Class: The Complete Second Season on DVD on 10/27.

They’re also working on new Blu-ray releases of Barbet Schroeder’s Reversal of Fortune (1990), Howard Hawks’ Sergeant York (1941), and Michael Patrick Jann’s Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999). Street date for all those are TBA.

The next entry in the MVD Rewind Collection (from the MVD Entertainment Group) will be Tamra Davis’ Guncrazy (1992) on 12/15. [Read on here...]

Kino Lorber Studio Classics (for Scorpion Releasing) has set The Greek Tycoon (1978) for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 12/8. Also coming that day (for Code Red) is Andrea Bianchi’s Cry of a Prostitute (1974).

Kino Lorber Studio Classics has also just revealed that their forthcoming Mad Max (1979) 4K and Blu-ray releases (due 11/24) will indeed include Road Rage, a new 30-minute interview with director George Miller.

Meanwhile, Criterion has just announced their December slate of Blu-ray and DVD releases, which is set to include:

  • David Cronenberg’s Crash (Spine #1059 – Blu-ray and DVD) on 12/2
  • Robert Bresson’s Mouchette (Spine #363 – Blu-ray and DVD) on 12/8
  • Symbiopsychotaxiplasm: Two Takes by William Greaves (Spine #360 – Blu-ray and DVD – includes Symbiopsychotaxiplasm Take One and Symbiopsychotaxiplasm Take 2½) on 12/8
  • And Alejandro Iñárritu’s Amores perros (Spine #1060 – Blu-ray and DVD) on 12/15

All but Symbiopsychotaxiplasm are mastered from new 4K scans/restorations (that one is HD). We’ve updated the 4K Ultra HD release list accordingly.

And on the 4K front, we posted the cover artwork yesterday, but Well Go USA will release Train to Busan presents Peninsula on Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD on 11/24.

In streaming news today, ViacomCBS have just revealed that that CBS All Access will soon be rebranded as Paramount Plus. Look for that to happen in early 2021. No doubt this will be the new home of all things Star Trek in the years ahead. You can read more here at Variety.

Also on the streaming front, Disney+ has just dropped the first trailer for The Mandalorian: Season Two, which begins airing on the subscription service on 10/30. You can see it here...

This is the way.

Back with more tomorrow. Stay tuned...!
