Next up today, Image Entertainment is releasing Naked City: The Complete Series box set on 11/5 (SRP $179.98), including all 4 seasons (138 episodes) on 29 DVDs.
Speaking of Image, we asked the company – which we’ve confirmed still owns the U.S. home video rights to Terry Gilliam’s Time Bandits – if they have any plans to license and release Arrow Film’s new 2K restoration and BD special edition version of the film here in the States. Their response: “No plans at this time.” *sigh* Don’t kill the messenger.
Discovery Communications and Gaiam Vivendi Entertainment have set the documentary series North America for Blu-ray and DVD release on 10/1 (SRP $34.99 and $29.93). There will also be a Combo Pack ($39.93) that includes the Blu-ray version along with “a 32-page photo booklet,” and a digital version will be available as well.
CBS and Paramount have set Beauty & the Beast: The First Season for DVD only release on 10/1 (SRP $54.99). Extras on the 6-disc set will include audio commentary on the pilot and 3 featurettes (Season in Review: The Beginning, Dressing the Beauty and Creating the Beast). This is the new series starring Kristen Kreuk and Jay Ryan.
IFC Films has set Java Heat (BD/DVD), Gimmie the Loot (DVD) and Simon Killer (DVD) for release on 9/17.
PBS Distribution has set a Masterpiece Mystery!: Inspector Lewis – Pilot Through Series 6 box set for DVD only release on 10/8 (SRP $129.99). The 14-disc set will include 27 episodes along with over an hour of extras.
Millennium Entertainment has set Home Run for Blu-ray and DVD release on 10/8 (SRP $24.99 and $19.99).
Vertical Entertainment has set The Last Keepers for DVD and VOD release on 9/9.
Lionsgate and HiT Entertainment have set Thomas & Friends: Animals Aboard for DVD release exclusively at Target stores on 9/10 (SRP $14.98), followed by a digital and VOD release on 10/8.
Lionsgate has also set the thriller The Frozen Ground for Blu-ray, DVD and digital release on 10/1 (SRP $24.99 and $19.98 for the discs). The film stars Nicolas Cage, John Cusack and Vanessa Hudgens. Extras will include audio commentary with writer/director Scott Walker and producers Mark Ordesky and Jane Fleming, deleted scenes with optional commentary by Walker, 3 featurettes (Examining The Frozen Ground, Writing The Frozen Ground and Anatomy of a Serial Killer), plus extended cast and crew interviews.
Also from Lionsgate: Ice Road Truckers: Season 7 and Care Bears: The Great Giving Holiday on DVD on 11/5, and Primitive on DVD on 11/19.
In addition, Hannibal: Season One arrives on Blu-ray, DVD and digital from Lionsgate on 9/24 (SRP $39.97 and $39.98 for the discs), including all 13 episodes – including one that never aired – plus audio commentaries, deleted scenes, a gag reel, storyboards and multiple featurettes.
Finally, Lionsgate has announced Robotech: The Complete Set for DVD release on 11/5 (SRP $89.98). The 20-disc set includes all 85 remastered episodes of the original series (The Macross Saga, The Robotech Masters and The New Generation) along with the remastered version of The Sentinels, plus The Shadow Chronicles and Love Live Alive and over 12 hours of bonus material. In addition to all the features from previous DVD releases, you’ll get the Robotech: The Inside Story documentary, The Making of Love Live Alive featurette, animatics and deleted scenes (with commentary) from Robotech: Love Live Alive, the Japanese version of Mospeada: Love Live Alive (with English subtitles), alternate versions of episodes, photo galleries, rare promo reels and more.
