Now then, Twilight Time has revealed the cover artwork and extras you’ll find on their 9/8 slate of Blu-ray titles, as follows: Angel (1982, a.k.a. Danny Boy) includes an isolated score and effects track; At Close Range includes an isolated score track, commentary with director James Foley and film historian Nick Redman, and the trailer; Emperor of the North includes an isolated score track, commentary with film historian Dana Polan, TV spots, and the trailer; Fat City includes an isolated score track, commentary with film historians Lem Dobbs and Nick Redman, and a trailer; and 10 to Midnight includes an isolated score track (with some effects), commentary with producer Pancho Kohner, casting director John Crowther, and film historian David Del Valle, the trailer, and radio spots. Pre-orders for these titles open Wednesday, 8/26 at 1 PM Pacific on Screen Archives and the Twilight Time website. You can see the cover artwork below.
20th Century Fox is releasing The Ultimate Western Collection on Blu-ray and DVD on 10/6 (SRP $69.98 and $49.98), including Jesse James, The Magnificent Seven, The Comancheros, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, The Undefeated, and Duck, You Sucker.
In addition to the November Blu-ray titles we mentioned yesterday, also coming from Criterion on DVD only on 11/3 is Eclipse Series 44: Julien Duvivier in the Thirties (SRP $59.95 – includes David Golder, Poil de Carotte, La tête d’un homme, and Un carnet de bal).
Kino Lorber has announced it’s releasing I’m Gonna Git You Sucka (1988) on Blu-ray and DVD. No street date yet, the title is simply listed as coming soon. Up the Creek (1984) is also coming to Blu-ray from Kino.
HBO has set Getting On: Season Two for Blu-ray and DVD release on 11/3.
History Channel and A&E Home Video are releasing Blood & Glory: The Civil War in Color on Blu-ray and DVD on 10/6.
Vertical Entertainment has set Harbinger Down for DVD release on 9/1. The film stars Lance Henriksen and is billed as a “practical effects ” sci-fi/horror thriller.
IndiePix Films will release Luis Minarro’s Falling Star on DVD on 8/25.
Anchor Bay Entertainment has set a Dragon Dynasty: 5 Movie Collection for DVD only release on 10/6, including Born to Defense, The Defender, The Legend II (a.k.a. The Legend of Fong Sai Yuk II), Once Upon a Time in China and America, and From Beijing with Love.
Image Entertainment has set Return to Sender for BD and DVD release on 12/1.
Arrow Video has set Wake Up and Kill for Blu-ray release on 11/24.
And Anchor Bay and RADiUS have set A LEGO Brickumentary for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 11/3. The documentary chronicles how the company sunk its hooks into kids brains (and their parents’ wallets) the world over.
In other news, 20th Century Fox has just released another trailer for Ridley Scott’s The Martian (see below and be sure to watch in HD), and darned if it isn’t pretty great. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m ready to go see this film right now. It hits theaters on 10/2…
Finally today, we’d like to take a moment to acknowledge the passing of actress Yvonne Craig (TV’s Batgirl) on Monday. In addition to Batman, Craig appeared in many other TV series from the 60s and 70s, including The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis, The Six Million Dollar Man, Mod Squad, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, and more. She also played an Orion slave girl in the classic Star Trek episode Whom Gods Destroy. She was 78. More here at The New York Times.
We also need to acknowledge the passing of writer/producer Bud Yorkin, best known for his work with Norman Lear on the 1970s TV series All in the Family, The Jeffersons, Sanford and Son, and Maude. If the name sounds familiar to you science fiction fans, it’s because Yorkin was also an uncredited co-producer on Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner. He was 89. More here at Variety.
