American Movie in 4K from Sony Pictures Classics, plus Radiance Films’ November slate & the Warner Archive’s September includes Orson Welles’ Journey into Fear (1943)

We’ve got just a handful of announcement news items to share with you today...

The first is that Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has just set Chris Smith’s American Movie (1999) for release on 4K Ultra HD on 10/15 in honor of the film’s 25th anniversary.

This will be a Sony Pictures Classics release. The 4K disc will include Dolby Vision HDR and the original English mono audio in lossless DTS-HD MA format.

Extras will include audio commentary with the director and cast, deleted scenes, the Coven short film by Mark Borchardt, and the film’s theatrical trailer. You can see the cover artwork at left.

Elsewhere around the Interwebs, various online retailers have begun taking pre-orders for the Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD release of Eli Roth’s Borderlands (2024) and Nikhil Nagesh Bhat’s Kill (2023) from Lionsgate, M. Night’s Shyamalan’s Trap (2024) from Warner Bros, Ti West’s MaXXXine (2024) from A24, and Osgood Perkins’ Longlegs (2024) from Neon/Decal. The street date for all of these is TBA. [Read on here...]

RLJ Entertainment has set Cameron and Colin Cairnes’s Late Night with the Devil (2023) for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 9/10.

Radiance Films in the UK has announced that their November Blu-ray slate will include Kinji Fukasaku’s Japan Organized Crime Boss (1969), Marco Bellocchio’s Slap the Monster on Page One (1972), Ray Milland’s Panic in Year Zero! (1962), and François Truffaut’s The Story of Adele H. (1975). All are due on 11/18 (that’s 18 November for you folks across the Pond).

And finally today, our friends at the Warner Archive Collection have announced some new September catalog Blu-ray releases, including Robert Altman’s A Prairie Home Companion (2006), Curtis Bernhardt’s Conflict (1945), George Stevens’ I Remember Mama (1948), Orson Welles’ Journey Into Fear (1943), a double feature of the Hanna-Barbera animated titles Jonny Quest vs. the Cyber-Insects (1995) and Jonny’s Golden Quest (1992), and George Sidney’s Bathing Beauty (1944). The street date for each is 9/24.
