All right, this is a quick early morning update here at The Bits to let you all know that Warner Bros. Home Entertainment is officially releasing Zack Snyder’s 300 on physical 4K Ultra HD on October 6 (SRP $27.99). You can see the cover artwork at left and also below.

Extras will include all of the features from the previous Blu-ray release, including audio commentary by Snyder, deleted scenes, webisodes, multiple behind-the-scenes featurettes and more. It appears that high dynamic range on the 4K disc will be standard HDR10, with Dolby Atmos audio. The package will also include the film on Blu-ray, as well as a digital copy.

But that’s just the first of two big 4K surprises this morning... [Read on here...]

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has also just revealed that it plans to release a 12-disc Resident Evil: Limited Edition 4K Ultra HD Collection on 11/3 (SRP $70.58) that will include all 6 films in the series on both 4K and Blu-ray. Among them will be Resident Evil, Resident Evil: Afterlife, Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Resident Evil: Extinction, Resident Evil: Retribution, and Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. Of those, only Afterlife and The Final Chapter have appeared on 4K Ultra HD previously.

We have no idea yet what extras may be included on the set if any, but it seems reasonable to assume that all of the previous Blu-ray features will carry over. Here’s what the package will look like (click on the image to pre-order it on
