I should also let you know that, during the panel, we’ll be showing you the some of the Prelude to Axanar Blu-ray, as well as the very first completed scene from the forthcoming Axanar feature film. It’s going to be pretty damn cool, so – whether you’re a longtime Bits reader, a Star Trek fan, or just a fans of Blu-ray and DVD in general – we hope to see you there!
By the way, Charlie de Lauzirika won a well-deserved Saturn Award last night for Best Television Blu-ray Release for his work on CBS’ Twin Peaks: The Entire Mystery. Congrats, my friend!
Now then... in news today, Amazon is now taking pre-orders on Disney and Pixar’s Inside Out on Blu-ray 3D Combo. Street date is TBA.
As expected (and as we’ve said previously), Disney has officially set Star Wars: Rebels – The Complete Season One for Blu-ray and DVD release on 9/1 (SRP $45.99 and $39.99). Extras on the Blu-ray will include 4 shorts (The Machine in the Ghost, Art Attack, Entanglement, and Property of Ezra Bridger), the Rebels Infiltrates Star Wars Celebration featurette, 2 additional featurettes (Star Wars Rebels: The Ultimate Guide and Star Wars Rebels Season 2: A Look Ahead), and 14 Rebels Recon behind-the-scenes featurettes (TBA).
Finally today, we need to take a moment to acknowledge the passing of actor Patrick Macnee yesterday. The British actor was best known for his role as John Steed on TV’s original The Avengers. He also recorded the opening lines to TV’s 1970s Battlestar Galactica: “There are those who believe that life here began out there... ” He was 93 and died peacefully at his home in California. More here at the BBC.
We’ll leave you this week with more new Blu-ray cover artwork, plus those September-slate Criterion Blu-rays which are all now available for pre-order on Amazon as well....
And that’s all for now. Come back on Monday when we welcome a brand new reviewer to The Bits’ staff. Meanwhile, have a great weekend. Peace out!
