Blu-ray News - Hobbit: Five Armies - Ext, Scorpion, Nomads, Once Upon a Time, Police Story: Lockdown, Vampire Hunter D & MUCH more

We’ve got a whole bunch of release news for you today.

First though, our own Russell Hammond has updated the Release Dates & Artwork section with all the latest Blu-ray and DVD cover artwork, with Amazon.com pre-order links. Remember that whenever you order or pre-order anything from Amazon after clicking through our links, you’re helping to support our work here at The Bits and we really do appreciate it.

Now then… first up today, it looks as if the street date for Warner’s as-yet-unannounced The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies – Extended Edition is going to be 11/10 or 11/17. The U.K. release is already listed on Amazon.co.uk with a date of 11/16, so you can bet the U.S. release will confirm fairly closely to this. We expect an official announcement soon, possibly around San Diego Comic-Con which is just two weeks away. [Read on here…]

Speaking of Warner, they’ve set Person of Interest: The Complete Fourth Season for Blu-ray and DVD release on 8/11, with Scorpion: The Complete First Season set to follow on both formats on 9/1.

Walt Disney Home Entertainment has set Once Upon a Time: The Complete Fourth Season for Blu-ray and DVD release on 8/18.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release Berry Gordy’s The Last Dragon: 30th Anniversary Edition on Blu-ray on 8/25.

Scream Factory has set Nomads for Blu-ray release on 8/18, including new interviews with actress Lesley-Anne Down and composer Bill Conti, a radio spot, a still gallery, and the theatrical trailer.

Lionsgate Home Entertainment will release Vendetta on Blu-ray and DVD on 8/18, followed by Where Hope Grows on both formats on 8/25.

And Paramount and Nickelodeon will release Blaze and the Monster Machines: High-Speed Adventures on DVD on 8/11.

Meanwhile, Well Go USA has set Jackie Chan’s Police Story: Lockdown for Blu-ray and DVD release on 8/11. Extras will include interviews with director Ding Sheng, and stars Jackie Chan, Zhong Wen, Liu Ye, Wu Jiang, Jing Tian, and Miao, plus a Behind the Scenes featurette. Well Go USA will also release Davin Lam’s Z-Storm on Blu-ray and DVD on 8/18.

Virgil Films will release Four Blood Moons on DVD on 7/28, followed by Snow Girl and the Dark Crystal on Blu-ray and DVD on 8/5.

Sentai Filmworks and Section 23 will release Vampire Hunter D: The Original Cult Classic Remastered on Blu-ray on 8/25.

Alchemy has set Strangerland for Blu-ray and DVD release on 8/18. Sophie Bartles’ Madame Bovary streets on Blu-ray and DVD on 8/4 from Alchemy as well.

MVD Entertainment has set Benjamin Stalter’s Soaked in Bleach – a documentary on Kurt Cobain’s death – for DVD release on 8/14.

Cult Epics will release Gerald Kargl’s Angst on Blu-ray and DVD on 8/18.

Artsploitation Films has set Cub for Blu-ray and DVD release on 8/18.

PBS Distribution will release Life on the Reef on DVD on 7/28.

Anchor Bay Entertainment will release Northmen: A Viking Saga on Blu-ray and DVD on 8/11.

Filmrise will release Preggoland on Blu-ray and DVD on 8/11.

Finally, Image Entertainment will release Blackbird on Blu-ray and DVD on 8/4.
