The Looming Tower, Strike Back: Season Five, Javaro 3D & more new 4K Ultra HD cover art

All right, Universal and Sony have been slow to send us Fury, The Patriot, and the Jurassic Park Collection for review on 4K here at The Bits. We expected them earlier this week and now it looks like we may not get our hands on them until sometime tonight or over the weekend. Rest assured, we’ll get them reviewed as soon as possible when we finally see them.

Fortunately, however, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has sent us Red Sparrow in 4K Ultra HD, and now Paramount has kindly delivered Alex Garland’s Annihilation on UHD, so we’re diving into those now. We’ll get reviews of those posted as soon as we’re able, so keep checking back here (and on our social media pages) over the weekend.

Meanwhile, in announcement news today, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has set the Hulu original drama series The Looming Tower for release on Blu-ray on 9/18, featuring all 10 episodes along with 4 featurettes (Across Three Continents: Creating The Looming Tower, Ali Soufan: In His Own Words, The Looming Tower: Divided We Fail, and The Complexities of Character), as well as audio commentaries on the first and last episodes. Cinedigm has set Terry Miles’ Stagecoach: The Texas Jack Story for release on 4K Ultra HD on 8/7. The film is already available on Blu-ray and DVD.

HBO has set Cinemax’s Strike Back: The Complete Fifth Season for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 8/21.

Lionsgate will release The Con is On on Blu-ray on 7/24, starring Tim Roth, Maggie Q, Parker Posey, and Alice Eve.

Universal and Blumhouse will release Truth or Dare? on Blu-ray and DVD on 7/17.

Also, Kino Lorber Studio Classics has set Edward Ludwig’s Javaro (1954) for release on Blu-ray/Blu-ray 3D and DVD, mastered from a 4K scan of the original camera negative and a 2K scan of the IP, with 3D restored by the 3D Film Archive. Street date is TBA.

Kino Lorber will also release Edoardo De Angelis’ 2015 Italian film Indivisible on Blu-ray and DVD on 7/24.

Vinegar Syndrome has set a double feature of Blood Theatre (1984) and The Visitants (1986) for release on Blu-ray on 6/26, along with Grave Robbers (aka Dead Mate, 1988) that same day.

Arrow Video is releasing The Gore Gore Girls on Blu-ray on 8/14.

Finally, we also have a look for you at the cover artwork for Paramount’s original Jack Reacher in 4K (due on 6/26), along with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (due 7/17), and both G.I. Joe live-action films (also due on 7/17), as well as the aforementioned Annihilation and Red Sparrow (from Fox) both of which we’re reviewing now in 4K.
