As longtime Bits readers will be aware, the studio first revealed it was coming late in 2024, originally intended for release during its then 25th anniversary, but the remastering work wasn’t ready in time. And obviously, we told you that work had begun on the title well before that. But as Fincher fans are no doubt aware by now, the director takes the time he takes on the 4K remastering of his films in order to get them right. So it’s great to see that he’s finally happy with it.
In terms of technical specs, the great news is that the 4K disc will be encoded for a 100 GB disc and it will come in Steelbook packaging. The image will feature HDR10 high dynamic range (that’s confirmed) and it will be framed at 2.39:1. The disc will also include English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio.
Both the 4K disc and included Blu-ray will feature all four of the legacy audio commentaries. In addition, the Blu-ray will carry over additional legacy special features, including A Hit in the Ear: Ren Klyce and the Sound Design of Fight Club, Flogging Fight Club, the Insomniac Mode: I Am Jack’s Search Index, Work Behind-the-Scenes Vignettes with multiple angles and commentary, deleted and alternate scenes, and Publicity Material including trailers, TV, and Internet spots, and PSAs. Look for online pre-orders to begin in about a week or so. You can see the cover artwork above left and also below.

In other release news today, our friends at Sony have just announced the 4K Ultra HD release of another Brad Pitt catalog classic, Bennett Millers’ Moneyball (2011), on 4/28! Interestingly, it appears the director has chosen to release the film in SDR only. Audio will include English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. Extras will include deleted scenes, Bloopers with Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill, Moneyball: Playing the Game, Billy Beane: Re-Inventing the Game, Drafting the Team, Adapting Moneyball, and the film's theatrical trailer.
Also newly announced for 4K release on 5/19 by Sony is Robert Zemeckis’s The Walk (2015), which will include HDR10 and English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. And Sony will release Martin Ritt’s The Front (1976) in 4K Ultra HD that same day with similar specs.
Meanwhile, retail sources are indicating that Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment’s planned 4K Ultra HD release of Barry Levinson’s Sleepers (1996) will street on 4/21.
Kino Lorber Studio Classics has officially set René Clément’s Rider on the Rain (1970) for release on 4K Ultra HD on 5/12, a 2-disc set that will include both the American Cut and the French Cut each mastered from the original 35 mm camera negative.
And finally today, Ignite Films and Eagle Rock Pictures have officially set Brian Yuzna’s Bride of Re-Animator (1990) for release in 4K Ultra HD on 6/11! The film will be available in four different editions, including an Ultimate Limited Edition Box Set that features a Finger Creature desktop phone holder. Also available will be a Deluxe Edition Box Set, a 4K Ultra HD Standard Edition, and a Blu-ray Standard Edition. Newly produced extras for this release will include Till Death Do Us Part: Making Bride of Re-Animator, Extended Interviews, and the 4K theatrical trailer. Plus the set will carry over legacy features as well. Here’s a trailer for the release...
