In announcement news today, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has just made Spike Jonze’s Adaptation official for 4K Ultra HD release on 12/6. Newly-remastered from the original camera negative, the disc will include Dolby Vision HDR, a new Dolby Atmos mix and the original theatrical 5.1 mix in DTS-HD MA. Special features will include the Behind the Scenes in the Swamp featurette and a theatrical trailer. You can see the cover artwork below.
Sony has also just released a Digital only Spider-Man: No Way Home – Extended Version, which features 11 minutes of additional scenes. So now it makes sense why the deleted scenes that were originally meant to be included on the theatrical version Blu-ray and 4K UHD release were removed at the last minute. Unfortunately, there’s no word yet as to whether there will be a physical release of this Extended Version at some point.
Lionsgate has announced that the next entry in their Vestron Video Collector’s Series will be a Silent Night, Deadly Night Collection on Blu-ray on 12/13. The package will offer Silent Night, Deadly Night 3: Better Watch Out!, Silent Night, Deadly Night 4: Initiation, and Silent Night, Deadly Night 5: The Toy Maker, along with extras that include audio commentaries, new interview featurettes, and legacy content.
Also coming from Lionsgate on Digital only is Who Is Christmas Eve? on 12/13.
Special edition producer Eric D. Wilkinson has just revealed that MVD Entertainment will be releasing Barry Levinson’s Best Picture-winning film Rain Man (1988) in 4K Ultra HD as part of the MVD Marquee Collection. Look for it in February, specifically 2/21/23. The release is happening in honor of the film’s 35th anniversary. There will be a remastered Blu-ray release as well. This title is already available for pre-order on Amazon and you can see the cover art above left and also below.
Coming in January 2023 to Blu-ray as part of the MVD Rewind Collection is a loaded special edition of Boaz Davidson’s The Last American Virgin (1982).

RLJE Films will release Christian Sesma’s Section 8 on Blu-ray and DVD on 11/15.
Music Box Films Home Entertainment has announced Lost Illusions (Blu-ray and DVD) for release on 11/8, followed by Medusa (Blu-ray and DVD) and The Story of Film: A New Generation (DVD only) on 11/22, and Please Baby Please (Digital only) on 11/19.
Well Go USA will release Emergency Declaration on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital on 11/19.
Scream Factory has announced some new details of their 12/6 and 12/13 4K Ultra HD releases of Black Christmas (1974) and Carrie (1976). Black Christmas will include a new 4K scan of the original camera negative as well as restorations of the original mono track and the 5.1 audio (which includes restoring missing dialogue, music, and sound effects). The disc will also include audio commentary with director Bob Clark, a new Black Christmas: Restoring the Sound featurette, as well as a Newspaper Ad Gallery by Drive-In Asylum. All of this is in addition to many legacy special features. Carrie will also include a new 4K scan of the original camera negative, a new audio commentary by Joe Aisenberg, and another Newspaper Ad Gallery by Drive-In Asylum. Again, this is in addition to the legacy special features.
And finally, Mill Creek Entertainment’s November slate will include The Most Dangerous Game (Blu-ray and DVD), Love in Wolf Creek (DVD), Christmas in Wolf Creek (DVD), Country Roads Christmas (DVD), Christmas in Rockwell (DVD), and A Ring for Christmas (DVD) on 11/8, followed by Ultraman Max: The Complete Series (DVD) and Ultraman Nexus: The Complete Series + Ultraman: The Next (DVD) on 11/15.
