Lionsgate bows Belly in 4K & Brian Yuzna’s Dentist Collection on Vestron Video Blu-ray, plus Yamashita’s Big Time Gambling Boss & more

We’ve got no less than five more new disc reviews for you all to enjoy today...

I’ve just posted my thoughts on Quentin Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs (1992) in 4K Ultra HD from Lionsgate.

Stephen has checked in with a look at Tobe Hooper’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986) in 4K Ultra HD from Vinegar Syndrome.

Dennis has reviewed Julien Temple’s Earth Girls Are Easy (1988), the new Vestron Video Collector’s Series title on Blu-ray from Lionsgate.

And Tim has taken a look at Lewis Gilbert’s Damn the Defiant! (1962) on Blu-ray from Imprint Films, as well as Montgomery Tully and Dennis O’Keefe’s The Diamond Wizard (1954) on Blu-ray 3D from Kino Lorber Studio Classics, via a great new restoration by the 3-D Film Archive.

In announcement news today, Lionsgate has set Hype Williams’ Belly for release on 4K Ultra HD on 1/24/23. There will be a wide release that includes a Blu-ray and Digital copy, along with a Best Buy-exclusive Steelbook package. Look for the package to have a new Dolby Atmos mix, along with the following special features: audio commentary with Williams, Spoken Word, a deleted scene, and the Grand Finale music video. Lionsgate has also set the History Channel special Colosseum for DVD only release on 1/24.

They have Brian Yuzna’s The Dentist Collection, which include The Dentist and its sequel The Dentist 2, coming to Blu-ray on 1/24 as part of the Vestron Video Collector’s Series.

Extras on The Dentist will include audio commentary with Yuzna and Special Makeup Effects Supervisor Anthony C. Ferrante, isolated score selections and audio interviews with Composer Alan Howarth and Director of Photography Levie Isaacks, 3 featurettes (The Doctor Is Insane with Actor Corbin Bernsen, Medical Malpractice with Cowriter Dennis Paoli, and Mouths of Madness with Special Makeup Effects Supervisor Anthony C. Ferrante and Makeup Effects Artist J.M. Logan), the film’s trailer, and a still gallery.

Extras on The Dentist 2 will include another audio commentary with Yuzna and Special Makeup Effects Supervisor Anthony C. Ferrante, isolated score selections and audio interviews with Composer Alan Howarth and Editor Christopher Roth, 3 featurettes (Jamie’s New Neighbor with Actress Jillian McWhirter, A Tale of Two Dentists with Producer Pierre David, and Mouths of Madness: The Dentist 2), the film’s trailer, and a still gallery.

And they have Rock Dog 3: Battle the Beat coming on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital on 1/24 as well.

Also today, MVD Entertainment will release Kosaku Yamashita’s classic of the Japanese Yakuza genre, Big Time Gambling Boss (1968), on Blu-ray on 1/3/23 from the new imprint Radiance Films. Extras will include Ninkyo 101: A Masterclass with Mark Schilling, a photo gallery, the film’s trailer, and a limited edition booklet with liner notes by author/film historian Stuart Galbraith IV and critic Hayley Scanlon.
