In announcement news this afternoon, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release Robert Zemeckis’ The Walk on Blu-ray 3D Combo, Blu-ray Combo, and DVD on 1/5. It hasn’t officially been announced with a press release yet, but it’s up for pre-order on Amazon on that date.

Shout! Factory has officially announced the 12/1 DVD only release of Mystery Science Theater 3000: Volume XXXIV, featuring the films The Saga of the Viking Women and Their Voyage to the Waters of the Great Sea Serpent, War of the Colossal Beast, The Undead, and The She-Creature. The set will also include the feature-length documentary It Was a Colossal Teenage Movie Machine: The A.I.P. Story, plus additional extras.

Meanwhile, Kino Lorber has added a number of new deep catalog titles for Blu-ray pre-order on Amazon.com, including Guy Maddin’s The Forbidden Room on 3/8, Jafar Panahi’s Taxi on 3/1, Richard Lester’s How I Won the War (1967), The Knack and How to Get It (1965), and The Bed Sitting Room (1969) and Jean Renoir’s The Southerner (1945) on 1/12, and Dan Milner’s The Phantom from 10,000 Leagues (1956), Ki-duk Kim’s Yongary, Monster From the Deep (1967), Ken Russell’s Vanentino (1977), Tony Richardson’s The Hotel New Hampshire (1984), Louis Feuillade’s Fantomas: Five Films (1913 serial), and Robert Wise’s The Captive City (1952) and Two for the Seesaw (1962) all on 1/5. Also, coming soon to Blu-ray from Kino are Robert Parrish’s The Purple Plain (1954) and Curt Siodmak’s The Magnetic Monster (1953), street date TBA. Some of those titles we’ve mentioned before, I think, but some are new and newly-available on Amazon. You can see some of the cover artwork below.

RLJ Entertainment is releasing A Christmas Horror Story on Blu-ray and DVD on 11/24.

And for you music fans, Eagle Rock Entertainment will release the concert film Lady Antebellum: Wheels Up Tour on Blu-ray, DVD, and digital on 11/13.

In other news today, director Brad Bird has confirmed on Twitter that the Blu-ray release of The Iron Giant was delayed until the spring so that he could include a newly-produced documentary on the making of the film. Thanks to Bits reader Knox R. for the heads-up!

And it looks like the final price for Fox’s The X-Files: The Complete Series Blu-ray set is $269.99 on Amazon.

Finally today, we’d be remiss if we didn’t take a moment to acknowledge the passing of Hollywood screen legend Maureen O’Hara, who died on Saturday at the age of 95. O’Hara starred in many films during her long career, but highlights include John Ford’s The Quiet Man, Miracle on 34th Street, and How Green Was My Valley. Other classic performances include roles in Jamaica Inn, Only the Lonely, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Rio Grande, Our Man in Havana, Dance, Girl, Dance, The Black Swan, Sitting Pretty, and The Parent TrapYou can read more here at The L.A. Times.
