All right, just before midnight last night I finished posting in-depth reviews of three more of the Star Wars films in 4K, as I work my way through Disney’s new Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga box set.

So now available for your reading enjoyment are (just click on the titles): The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith, A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi.

Today, I’m going to tackle The Force Awakens, the re-issue of The Last Jedi (and it’s not just rebranded packaging—this is a newly-authored 4K disc, with a newly-authored movie Blu-ray, and a new Bonus Blu-ray too), and finally Rogue One: A Star Wars Story all in 4K. [Read on here...]

As many of you will be aware, I’ve already reviewed The Rise of Skywalker in 4K here at The Bits. The version in the box set is identical to the single-film release.

Then tomorrow, I’ll close out the week by posting some overall review thoughts of the box set as a whole (with pictures).

Now then... keep in mind again that Solo and Rogue One are not included in the box set, so you’ll have to buy those separately in 4K if you want them. I’m told that both Solo and The Last Jedi are being re-branded and re-issued as 4K singles next week (on 3/31). I don’t have Solo yet, but I’ll review that one too when I get my hands on it.

By the way, one more bit of 4K news before I go, but it’s a big one: Amazon.com is now taking pre-orders on a trio of long-awaited Ultra HD catalog titles from Paramount starring Tom Cruise: Tony Scott’s Top Gun and Days of Thunder, and Steven Spielberg’s War of the Worlds. All three will feature Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos audio. Street date is 5/19, just as we expected, and the good news is that the SRP is just $22.99 each. And we believe that these three will also be released as new Paramount Presents Blu-ray editions too...

Top Gun (4K Ultra HD) Days of Thunder (4K Ultra HD) War of the Worlds (4K Ultra HD)

There’s a Top Gun 4K Steelbook coming that day too...

Top Gun (Steelbook) (4K Ultra HD)

All right, that’s it for now. Back to the Star Wars 4K reviewing. Watch for them later.

Stay tuned...!
