We’ve got a couple of things we’re tracking here at The Bits today, news wise...

First, it looks like Paramount has listed Scream VI for pre-order on 4K Ultra HD, 4K Steelbook, and Blu-ray on Amazon. We haven’t got the street date (which is still TBA), but we do have pre-order links and artwork below the break.

While we’re talking Paramount, F. Gary Gray’s The Italian Job (2003) and Antoine Fuqua’s Shooter (2007) are now available for pre-order in 4K UHD on Amazon with a street date of 5/16. The former is new to the format, while the latter was originally released as a 4K Steelbook edition last year—this is the regular Amaray version. Click on the title links for each to visit their respective Amazon pages.

Paramount and CBS have also just listed Star Trek: Lower Decks – Season 3 for release on Blu-ray on 4/25, as expected. As some of you may recall, the DVD was listed first by itself and now the Blu-ray SKU has been added to online pre-orders on Amazon. You can see the BD artwork below.

Also now available for pre-order from Warner Bros. (street date TBA) is Michael B. Jordan’s Creed III on Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD (click here and here). [Read on here...]

And Sony has listed Bryan Woods and Scott Beck’s sci-fi actioner 65 for pre-order on Blu-ray and 4K. Again, the street date is TBA, but we would expect it to arrive in May or June.

It’s also worth nothing today that StudioCanal has set Richard Lester’s The Three Musketeers (1973) and The Four Musketeers (1974) for release on 4K UHD on 4/24 in the UK, and both are now available for pre-order on Amazon.co.uk.

Our 4K Ultra HD Release List here at The Bits has been updated with all of these new titles and links accordingly.

Sadly, we have some discouraging news to report today as well: It’s starting to appear as if Warner’s new Superman: 5-Film Collection is going to include Superman: The Movie without the rumored new video restoration, which was first reported to have been done by Jim Bowers of Caped Wonder. And while it appears that the new disc retains the previous (and ill-favored) Dolby Atmos mix, it’s looking like the 5.1 Dolby Digital mix presenting the original theatrical 6-track 70 mm audio (and which is much loved by fans) has been dropped—either by error or by choice—in favor of the same 2.0 original theatrical mix that was available previously on Blu-ray.

The reason we suspect this is the case, is that the Superman: The Movie 4K disc is already available by itself from Amazon. Multiple fans of the film have gotten their hands on it and confirmed that the re-issued disc includes these changes. And naturally, lots of people are cancelling their Superman 5-Film Collection box set pre-orders accordingly.

We’ve asked Warner Bros. about this—in addition to the Rocky 4K issues reported last week—and we’ll report here when we hear back from them.

Finally today, CBS Sunday Morning posted a great piece on the importance of film restoration with director Martin Scorsese this past weekend, and it’s worth a look. You can watch it here...

We’ll leave you with a peek at the cover artwork for some of the titles mentioned above (click on the images to visit their respective Amazon US or UK pre-order pages)...

Scream VI (4K Ultra HD) Scream 6 (4K Ultra HD Steelbook) 65 (4K Ultra HD)

The Three Musketeers (4K Ultra HD) The Four Musketeers (4K Ultra HD) Star Trek: Lower Decks – Season 3 (Blu-ray Disc)

Stay tuned...
