In new and recent announcement news, our friends at Arrow Video have unveiled their September slate of Blu-ray and 4K titles, which is set to include Joseph and Vanessa Winter’s Deadstream (2022) on Blu-ray (in the UK only) on 9/1, Stephen Hopkins’ Lost in Space (1998) on 4K (in the UK, US, and Canada) on 9/2, Paul Schrader’s American Gigolo (1980) on 4K (in the UK only) on 9/8, Junya Sato’s Proof of the Man (1977) on Blu-ray (in the UK, US, and Canada) on 9/9, Lucky McKee’s The Woods (2006) on Blu-ray (in the UK only) on 9/15, Zelda Adams, Toby Poser, and John Adams’ Hellbender (2021) on Blu-ray (in the US and CA) on 9/16, and Michael Gornick’s Creepshow 2 (1987) in 4K (in the UK, US, and Canada) and Kim Jee-woon’s The Good, the Bad, and the Weird (2008) on Blu-ray (in the US and Canada) on 9/30. Meanwhile, Kino Lorber Studio Classics has revealed that Danny DeVito’s Throw Momma from the Train (1987) is coming soon to 4K, while a Malfeasance: Four Films by Yves Boisset Blu-ray set is also coming soon with Angel’s Leap (1971), Mad Enough to Kill (1975), The Woman Cop (1980), and Rise Up, Spy (1982).
Here’s something awesome: Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has just announced a new 4K Ultra HD Steelbook edition of Tom Savini’s Night of the Living Dead (1990) for release on 9/23! You’ll get two versions of the film—the 1990 Theatrical Cut and a new Uncensored Cut—in 4K UHD with Dolby Vision HDR and English Dolby Atmos audio (as well as previous 5.1 mixes and 2.0 on the Theatrical Cut only). The Theatrical Cut will also be included on remastered Blu-ray. The 4K disc will include a new audio commentary with Tom Savini on the Uncensored Cut. The Blu-ray will also include the archival commentary with Savini, 6 new interviews (with actors Bill Moseley, William Butler, McKee Anderson, and Heather Mazur, producers John Russo and Russell Streiner, editor Tom Dubensky, and zombie performers Greg Funk and Dyrk Ashton), as well as 4 legacy featurettes (Savini’s Night with Director Tom Savini, Being Barbara with Actress Patricia Tallman, Return to the Living Dead with Special Makeup Effects Supervisors John Vulich and Everett Burrell, and The Dead Walk), and the film’s theatrical trailer. For you anime fans, GKids and Shout Studios have just announced a new Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD Steelbook release of Mamoru Hosoda’s The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (2006) on 9/9. Extras will include the film with storyboards, audio commentary with the director and voice cast, storyboard commentary, and various teasers and trailers.
