We’ve got another Blu-ray Disc review for you today. This time, Tim’s taken a look at Scream Factory’s new Death Becomes Her: Collector’s Edition. Do give it a look here.

In announcement news today (though it’s been available for pre-order for a while now), Fox has just officially set Deadpool for Blu-ray and DVD on 5/10 and announced details of the Blu-ray extras, will include audio commentary with director Tim Miller and Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld, a second commentary with Ryan Reynolds and writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, deleted and extended scenes with optional Miller commentary, a gag reel, the From Comics to Screen... to Screen documentary, galleries (of concept art, storyboards, costumes, pre-vis and “stunt-vis”), something called Deadpool’s Fun Snack, and more. The 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray version is also coming that day, and it will include the Blu-ray version (with these same extras) inside the packaging. Right now, the Blu-ray is $22.99 on Amazon while the 4K Ultra HD version is just $29.99. The DVD is $19.99. You can pre-order any of them by clicking on the cover art below...  [Read on here…]

Pick-Ups for the Week of April 11, 2016

Welcome to a new edition of Pick-Ups!

Thanks for joining me. This week I’m going to catch up on some horror/sci-fi/comedy releases that we’ve missed along the way.

It should be an interesting lot of titles to check out.

As usual, we’ll be rolling each review out one at a time all week, so be sure to check back for new ones.  [Read on here…]

Before we begin this afternoon, our own Tim Salmons has turned in another Pick-Ups Blu-ray review for you to check out, this time featuring a look at Synapse Films' Steelbook release of Dario Argento’s Tenebrae (1982). Do check that out here.

All right, the big news today is that Paramount has just officially announced the 6/7 release of the Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan – Director’s Edition on Blu-ray (as we first revealed here on The Digital Bits a few weeks ago). The film itself has been remastered from a new 4K scan, with the participation of director Nicholas Meyer, and will be included on the disc in 1080p in both the original theatrical cut and the slightly longer Director’s Cut, each with 7.1 Dolby TrueHD audio.  [Read on here…]

We posted a pair of new Blu-ray reviews yesterday in the event you missed them: Our own Jim Hemphill offered his thoughts on Twilight’s From the Terrace, and Tim took an in-depth look at Scream Factory’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2: Collector’s Edition. Tim has turned in a new Blu-ray review today as well, this time of Red Letter Media’s Space Cop. Do check that out here.

Also here at the site today, our own Russell Hammond has updated the Release Dates & Artwork section with all the latest Blu-ray and DVD cover artwork and Amazon.com pre-order links. Remember, a portion of anything you order from Amazon after clicking through any of our links here at The Bits goes to support our work and we really do appreciate it very much.  [Read on here…]

All right, hope you all had a fine weekend. We begin today with a new Pick-Ups column from our own Tim Salmons, featuring the first of several new Blu-ray reviews this week: Grindhouse Releasing’s Pieces: Deluxe Edition, which is now available.

In announcement news today, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has set Risen for release on the Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray formats on 5/24. [Read on here…]

Pick-Ups for the Week of March 07, 2016

Welcome to a new edition of Pick-Ups!

Thanks for joining me. This week I’m going to focus on our distribution friends from across the pond (having also recently crossed the pond, as well), Arrow Video. So consider this an Arrow Video Catch-Up week.

And by the way, before we get into it, I didn’t get a chance to go see The Witch since my last column (in which I said I would), but hopefully, I will at some point. Right now I have my sights set on the newly-released Zootopia, which looks like a fun and refreshing bit of Disney animation. Anyways, moving on. [Read on here…]

We begin today with Tim’s last Pick-Ups Blu-ray review for this week: A look at Scream Factory’s The Curse/The Curse II: The Bite. Together, these two Z-grade flix were damn near enough to finally break our man’s sanity and send him into a late night reviewing rage (a genuine occupational hazard in this profession). Do check it out. LOL.

Meanwhile, Scream Factory has revealed that it’s working on Brian DePalma’s Raising Cain: Collector’s Edition, due on Blu-ray 6/28, along with a new Blu-ray edition of The Crush on 6/21. [Read on here…]
