Adam’s Hell Plaza Oktoberfest Blu-ray review for today is none other than Oliver Stone’s Seizure, as released on disc by Kino Lorber. Do check it out.

Meanwhile today, Todd has checked in with his weekly Doogan’s Queue highlighting some of this week’s new Blu-ray and DVD releases. And our own Russell Hammond has updated the Release Dates & Artwork section here at the site with all the latest Blu-ray and DVD cover art, and Amazon.com pre-order links. As always, whenever you order anything from Amazon after clicking through to them from our links, you’re helping to support The Bits.  In this era of pop-up ads and fake "sponsored" news content, it makes all the difference and we really do appreciate it.  [Read on here…]

Doogan’s Queue for October 14, 2014

For the next few weeks I am going to give a Halloween service. The Internet loves quick lists so I’m going to give you a couple.

This week I’m going to tell you the 10 Best Zombie Movies (according to Doogan’s View – I’m going old school on you). To make it easier – if it’s a series, I’m including all the films of that series as one.   [Read on here…]

We kick off the new week with another new Hell Plaza Oktoberfest review from Dr. Jahnke, this time featuring a look at David Cronenberg’s Scanners as released on Blu-ray from Criterion. Don’t miss it!

In announcement news today, Warner Home Video has moved the street date for its Batman: 25th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray to 12/9 (from 11/11). Keep in mind, the only new feature on this disc is the Batman: The Birth of the Modern Blockbuster featurette.  [Read on here…]

The Hell Plaza Oktoberfest continues today as Dr. Jahnke wraps up his review look at Rob Zombie’s Halloween II on Blu-ray from Anchor Bay and Scream Factory’s Halloween: The Complete Collection box set.

Speaking of which, I’m told that a BD replacement program will be announced soon for the Halloween 4 disc in the set that has an audio sync problem. We’ll give you the details as soon as Anchor Bay and Scream make them official.   [Read on here…]

Sorry for the quick post today. Some portion of the Interweb upon which The Bits resides has apparently been subject to a denial of service attack from Chinese hackers today, which has meant that access to the site’s been spotty all afternoon.

You’d be surprised how often this kind of thing happens online. Ah, the Interweb...

Anyway, we have a trio of Blu-ray reviews for you this afternoon.   [Read on here…]

Burnt Offerings for October 7, 2014

Here’s a surprise. The long dormant MGM Limited Edition Collection has announced that they’ll soon be manufacturing on demand again. Their initial line-up is scheduled to arrive next week and I’ll be taking a look at those titles then. Before you get too excited, almost all of the titles in this first wave are previously released out-of-print movies. At least it’s something, though, and hopefully we’ll start seeing some more obscurities making their disc debuts from MGM soon.

In the meantime, here’s your weekly rundown of the week’s new MOD discs and a selection of streaming titles worthy of your attention. As always, please consider making a purchase via one of these nifty banners and you’ll help support The Bits. Many thanks if you do.  [Read on here...]

Doogan’s Queue for October 7, 2014

Well, it looks like all that hinting Lynch and Frost have been doing has paid off: Twin Peaks is coming back to TV in 2016. That’s pretty baller. There aren’t a lot of shows I would like to see return, but a few make sense. One is X-Files. I was never a terribly big fan of the show in its later years, but I do think it had an interesting mythology that could easily come back. Deadwood is another that needs to return. I’d also love Firefly (obviously), Party Down and just for my friends with hard-ons for it – Star Trek. Let’s hope some of these come back too.

While we wait, let’s look at some of the titles coming out this week to DVD and Blu-ray.  [Read on here…]
